Here is one of the least asked questions, that has no descent answer: Why does god need blood? Think about it carefully. Review the bible and we see a story of animal sacrifice from the myth of the garden of eden. Once ejected from “the garden,” god demands blood.
Abraham is praised a great man of god because he was willing to sacrifice his own son on a rock. Although the story goes that Abraham was prevented from killing his son at the last moment, he is still praised for his willingness to kill his son, for no reason other than god wished it.
Then comes the christian view of god sending his “son” to die on a cross for all of humanity. What’s with this fascination of blood?
What quality of an animal’s blood can cover a person’s errors and failures? When a lamb is held against a rock, having its throat slit and its blood poured out, how does that relate to the “sin” of another?
It’s complete foolishness. There’s no logical, or reasonable requirement for killing an animal for one’s sins. The animal isn’t willingly agreeing to die for you. Its life is taken against its will. There’s no real connection between the blood loss of an animal in covering the errors of humanity.
If you stole from the cash register, then went home and killed your dog, to cleanse the crime… would that make up for your theft? Would the owner, who is still short of money, feel better that your dog was killed for your crime? Blood sacrifice is illogical, it has no reasonable sense to it. It is the stuff of true cults.
Abraham’s attempted murder of his son is a disgrace. Again, how would the death of his son help anyone else? The son didn’t even know he was about to be murdered, so how could he be a willing sacrifice? He wasn’t. It was yet another story of an angry, jealous, petulant god.
When we get to the story of Jesus, this is the first time we see a story about someone willing to die for someone else. Every sacrifice up to this moment, was unreasonable. Yet, even here, there’s a problem.
Lacking Personal Responsibility
When Jesus offers up himself as a sacrifice, the doctrine shifts into a doctrine without any personal responsibility. The christian today does whatever they wish, then when caught they cry out to Jesus for forgiveness… once they are alone again, they do the bad thing and the cycle repeats.
Jesus is not your answer, he’s simply an excuse to do wrong.
Blood was a requirement for the remission of sin, so Paul says in the New Testament. But why? What makes blood so powerful? Imagine of Paul said, “the ejection of sperm is for the remission of sin…?” Would that make sense? Is it logical? Of course not.
Church kids are raised to think these things are natural and logical. Bible studies and youth groups tell the stories to normalize deviant behavior. “It’s normal to need blood sacrifices,” they say to the kids and then condemn other religions with, “those heathens are sacrificing poor animals…” Well which is it?
When the Christian comes to the level of saying “Jesus was the final Sacrifice,” they are throwing out all personal responsibility. Instead of being a better human, they decide to do what they will and ask for forgiveness later.
This is not the way to a better you, nor a better society. This is the way to slavery, violence and destruction.
