Christian: Death isn’t so bad, those children killed had a great time

Regarding passages like Numbers 31:15-18 (where children are murdered in the name of god) some Christians have come to some pretty odd conclusions. This is one of those passages that really stumps a christian. After all, how do you defend child murder, but claim you’re pro-life? The quandary! Enter in the apologists. An apologist is like a dirty lawyer. They’ll defend their client on trial (god), and claim that all he does is good. “But why is it good,” the rational person asks. To this they answer in a myriad of ways, but none of it is logical nor reasonable.

I’ve reported on how some Christians think that these children deserved to die, due to wars waged with the enemy (the Midians in this passage in Numbers 31). Bypassing the illogical assumptions with that, we can also ask, but what of the god decreed murder of children who curse their parents, or of women not virgins on their wedding night?

As it turns out, the “god” of the bible is easily judged, and it takes great effort for an apologist to defend their god. Some apologists simply give up on defending him, as it’s akin to defending Charles Manson. So they throw in the towel saying “god can do what he wants with us…” Consider the woman’s response below:

Kyriekay says, “Ovi I think I completely agree with what you said … death is not TABOO … it’s a part of life .. just like BIRTH .. people cling and get obsessed with mortality so much , they make it a bad thing .. seems it only hurts for the ones left behind … if you actually research people that have had NDE , or people who have died and we’re revived or DROWNED and were brought back … they say it not painful … people who have died describe a overall feeling of peace , tranquility and wellbeing .. they say it’s the most wonderful thing they have ever felt.. and about 99 % of them are PISSED when they are brought back ! Lol .. we are so wrapped up in this world when this is not our home .. it’s nothing to god to take us out of it I guess .. because he sees the bigger picture .. I tell you one thing they all say .. life is hard , death is easy … if god drowned everyone to save them from being sacrificed and tortured or starved to death slowly .. I’d say it was done for the good .. even though it was hard to come to that conclusion lol .. the Bible definitely teaches you some hard truths ..”

What “Ovi” and “Kyriekay” are suggesting is logic is this:

God did killed people, but since god is good, death must not be that bad. Conventional morality simply makes death taboo, therefore killing is fine.

Another logic statement that she makes (regarding the flood):

God drowned everyone in the flood to save them from a worse fate (starvation).

Let’s examine these “logic” statements:

There’s a foregone conclusion here, that god is “good.” That the bible is “without error.” Because of that, such people can not think rationally. Instead of judging Genesis 6 (the flood) on its own merit, they assume that there must be a good here… so it must be that death isn’t that bad.

By that same logic, one can defend abortion! That very thing they’re against. Yeah that can be defended with that same logic.

Either you believe that all killing is wrong, or you don’t. You can’t logically stand on “well killing is ok only if god does it…” because elsewhere in the bible, god orders people to kill people. Look at Numbers 31:15-18:

15 “Have you allowed all the women to live?” he asked them. 16 “They were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord in the Peor incident, so that a plague struck the Lord’s people. 17 Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.

Numbers 31:15-18

Now you have to defend this. So killing is wrong, unless god does it, or unless god’s people do it? We’ve just passed logic into the realm of irrationality. On such grounds of belief, murder then can always be defended. One can defend killing enemy children.

How about the “law of god” to kill women:

20 “But if the thing is true, and evidences of virginity are not found for the young woman, 21 then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done a disgraceful thing in Israel, to play the harlot in her father’s house. So you shall put away the evil from among you.

Deuteronomy 22:20-21

There’s much more, and I don’t want to get too far off topic here. Suffice to say, the bible is filled with vile.

People like Kyriekay can’t face the fact that their god might be the villain. So they defend it to even the conclusion that “death is fine and ok,” which ironically can be used against them.

Every terrorist that targets christians, could cite this logic. Every woman who wants an abortion could cite this logic. After all, it isn’t just god that kills, god orders people to kill. Therefore anyone who feels they have an order from god to kill someone, can by Kyriekay’s logic, kill.

This isn’t sound reason, nor logic, but I want my readers to see what christians are capable of. They are capable of thinking so easily that it’s ok to kill others, to commit genocide, to kill the children of our nation’s enemies.

This is why many a tyrant and dictator has appealed to christians in order to gain power. They are so easily manipulated by their own lack of reason.

The "god is good" Logic Error

One can be on the search for a deity. However, when one’s doctrine is a dogmatic book written long ago, and when one projects the literal interpretation of that book onto others, the result is rarely positive. Many people I deal with in online debates suffer from the error of […]
